The Senior Competition Team will compete at two competitions in Spring of 2024 alongside the Junior Team. Competitions are in March and April and dates will be announced in October as soon as registration opens for studios. We compete locally (within an hour’s drive) and the competition goes from Friday afternoon through Sunday night. We ask you to reserve the whole weekend for competition as we get our performance schedule one week prior to the event. All team members from both teams are expected to be present for all other Dance Lakewood performances to support their teammates!

  • Senior team members take a minimum of 4 classes per week beginning in summer 2023: a ballet class, 2 technique classes, and their competition team skills class.

  • Attendance is key to progressing, so we ask that team members have excellent attendance. Students may make up missed classes in any class of a similar level during any week of the semester. Students may have 3 unexcused absences per semester.

  • In addition to the scheduled competition team class, students will be asked to attend weekend rehearsals. These rehearsals are scheduled based on student availability.

  • Team spirit is one of our favorite things about Competition Team! We have monthly activities for the group to give students the opportunity to create friendships. These activities will be done with the Junior Team and include things such as tie dying, cookie decorating, pumpkin carving, etc.

Competition fees vary depending on the event we attend and the number of students in a given dance. For example, a small group number (4+ dancers) may cost $65/dancer while a duet may cost $80/dancer. Solos range from $110-$150. While costume costs vary as well, we have control over what we order and do our best to stay around the amount listed below. Each Senior Team member will participate in two or more dances. If you have a preference as to how many dances your student is in, we are happy to accommodate your request.

Below is a sample of annual costs to participate on the team and perform in one dance:

  • Competition Team Jacket - $100 (embroidered with student’s name on the front and DL logo on the back - pictured left)

  • Competition Team Annual Fee - $100 (pays teachers for rehearsal time and choreography outside of class)

  • Costume Fee (2 costumes) - $170

  • Competition 1 (2 dances) - $165

  • Competition 2 (2 dances) - $165

    Approximate total: $700

These fees can be spread throughout the year.
We are happy to work on payment plans with each family individually!

We would love to see your student at auditions!
